Holy Christmas Season

Time flies when you’re having fun they say. Sorry my fantastical peeps, I know it’s been a few weeks since I wrote a post. The month of December is a super busy time, but I love this time of the year though so cheery and colorful!

So, let me see, what has happened since we last spoke…..I know we touched base on the clowns last post but can I just skip ahead once again to about 2 weeks ago.

Picture it Sicily 1922 two Mandarin dragonettes…. lmao just kidding! But seriously spoiler alert we had a problem. You guys remember my beautiful fishy that I wanted so badly and was the start of this whole crazy journey, well we impusively purchased two thinking they would love each other! That’s me a hopeless romantic! *sighs* He is a spotted green mandarin and she is a psychedelic mandarin, we thought being male and female they would be compatible even though they were technically different species. WRONG! WRONG! WRONG! Can you say #failedattempt πŸ˜• And you wonder why I call this blog trials and tribulations!!

Emerald the male was put into the tank first, simply because we found him first. I had been wanting a pair of mandarins since we got Emerald because I heard they do this super cute mating dance! (I will post the video on our youtube channel today) (believe me you will love it!!) Jade went in second. It took a couple of days but suddenly Emerald was determined to off Jade. (Off with her head or uh tail that is) I think he was worrried she would eat all his copepods or he was just being territorial, still not sure. Either way he was attacking her on the regular by nipping at her fins. We were so destraught and worried for her safety! It was very stressful to watch him chase her. To combat this problem Kraig and I decided we need to get a second tank just for her. But also… do you rememer baby Milli? My sweet little baby fish? She could now go from the breeder basket to the tank with Jade. KIND OF A WIN, WIN!! Woop Woop *insert happy dance here!! Oh like the cabbage patch or the running man, go me go me ….ummm uh (clears throat) yeah so anyway….. got a little off track there πŸ™ˆπŸ™‰πŸ™Š But c’mon be honest you did both dances didn’t you!!🀣 lmao

Annnnnndd back to the second tank. Here it is, it’s 27 gallons and shaped like a cube. We have a hang on back filter because as of now it sits on my Island between my kitchen and living room. This is its temporary home due to the quickness that we had to get it.

MR. AND MRS. SAVE-THE-FISHIES HERE!! DUN DA-DA DUN!!

(Oh and second spoiler alert of the day, Kraig is going to make it look like a lamp post!) Stay tuned for that post to find out why and possibly a video on youtube!!

Jade and Milli have their new forever home and are quite happy about it. No more running for Jade and no more tiny basket for Milli. I know what you are thinking where are the fish? I pinky promise you they are in there. Jade is a hider and Milli is super tiny so it’s hard to get photos of them actually out in the tank. My sincerest apologies!! *sad face*

Jade the Pschycedelic Mandarin Dragonette

Milli the baby Molly Fish

Just kidding!! You really thought I didn’t have photos?! There they are happily doing their thing!!

Next week is Christmas! I hope for everyone no matter how or if you celebrate have a very Happy Holiday!! I mentioned putting a video on our youtube channel if you haven’t subscribed go to TTFT or https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCj-_xLLzvtnR5u7dBt_QxUw
