We find ourselves surrounded by ocean sound and blue lights. No we are not on the beach being arrested for swimming nude. Wow!! Get your minds out of the gutter… sheesh people!
We are actually sitting on our couch upstairs or couch downstairs staring at Fish tanks. As you know we started our slow decent into the world of home aquariums again. So, what have we learned this week or what news do we have? Well one, I may have to learn a new skill to fund this habit LOL or Kraig might have to get a night job working at the local PETCO for the discounts. But seriously this is one hobby, although extremely beautiful and satisfying is a super wallet gobbler. Especially when establishing or re-establishing the tanks.
The fresh water tank has been a conundrum unfortunately. Although levels are good and the fish seem fine there has been some unexpected things happening. Green algae in the form of foggy water and some on the glass has invaded the tank. We have had some fish die which is weird. Because others are striving and doing fine. So there has been some diagnosing going on. A hold on new fish and a hope and a prayer that after a couple weeks or so it is back to normal.
Filters and flow were Kraig’s main focus this week. He had to clean out the 75 gallons filter and make sure that it was done meticulously and correctly. Which I can tell you years of the other tanks and some more deep diving- ha get it- ahem ( clears throat and hides behind embarassment) yea soooo as I was saying some more deep diving into research and he did do it the right way. The tank is crystal clear and both fish and corals are happy , healthy and oh so amazingly beautiful! But all 3 salt water tanks are truly doing awesome! Yes 3 again this is a no judge zone people!
Something else this week, Kraig was finally able to Frag our corals and we now have new babies growing and thriving that hopefuly will flourish and be able to either be sold or moved through-out the 3 tanks to get our coral gardens going. Corals really bring color and beauty to a salt water tank. Yes the fish can be colorful and pretty but the corals bring just a little more “pop” to it!
As you can see in Exhibit A – Goniporas coral

Fish do not POP like these do!!!
The reason for our nano tank is to make a coral garden which is easier to do when the tank is smaller. Less area to cover also helps with the $$$. Size, shape, place of purchase all play a part for the price of corals. They range from little money like $20 a piece to hundreds.
This week has been pretty slow as far as shopping and adding fish so not much to report there. BUTTTT, can i switch gears for a second here and touch base on another creature in my home- the hamster. His name is Pickles and he is a mini dwarf hamster. He belongs to my youngest daughter and he escaped his cage last week. Can anyone tell me what. the. hell.- I believe Hamsters are decents of Harry Houdini. Like seriously. I mean WHERE DO THEY HIDE THE KEY!! ๐น๐จ Now you see me now you don’t!! *Sighs* this little stinker got out a few weeks ago and my Bellatrix (the cat) found him under the stove. Yup you heard correctly he was nibbling on something under the stove and the cat heard it. Lucky for him it was early enough in the morning and so did I. I grabbed the bratty hamster and returned him to his home. We knew how he did it that time and reinforced the spot. But this last time I literally have no idea. ????? and he has yet to come back. So, sadly we have a rodent on the loose. OR *cough,cough….worse. โ ๏ธ One other theory is…. my cat has been happier this week. OMG i am sorry what a morbid turn of events. Let’s hope the little guy is nestled in some warm clothes in my daughters room. Happy as a uh well the wrong analogy comes to mind so for giggles sake lets say Happy as a Clam!!
XOXO Happy Valentines Day Ya’ll โค๏ธ
